  • EGA’s Hermes Awards in Entertainment Localization Excellence was created to celebrate excellence in the art and science of global storytelling and is the first global peer-reviewed awards program in the industry. 

    The program raises worldwide awareness and appreciation for the art of global storytelling among the localization community and the creative community.

    The program also aims to provide professional recognition and impact the overall perception of the entertainment globalization industry.

  • Specialized panels within EGA’s membership will select five nominees and one winner for each of the following categories: Audio Description, Script Adaptation, Audio Mixing, and Subtitling. EGA member companies can register up to three qualified voters for each of these categories, who will judge all entries one time on a scale from one to ten.

    EGA’s Board of Advisors will judge the following categories: Technical Achievement and Lifetime Achievement. Three nominees and one winner will be selected for the Technical Achievement category. One winner will be selected for the Lifetime Achievement category. BOA members will vote once on entries in these categories on a scale from one to ten.

    Five nominees from each of the remaining categories (known as the ‘main categories’) will be selected by EGA’s Awards Group in the first round of voting, by judging each entry on a scale from one to ten. Awards Group members will not be permitted to vote on entries from their employer. One winner of each category will be selected by EGA’s members by judging the nominees on a scale from one to ten in the second round of voting. Member companies can register up to ten members to vote in these categories.

  • The Hermes Award Show is scheduled for April 3, 2025.

  • Submission fee: $150 USD per entry, no refunds.
    Members receives 3 free entries per year.

  • Upon submission of a film or television program for EGA Hermes Award consideration in any award category, the content owners are deemed to have granted to EGA the right to use the supplied excerpts from the content and from all approved and available promotional materials relating to the content, which are submitted to the association in connection with the film’s awards consideration, for incorporation by EGA at its sole discretion, into the Hermes awards show for the year in which the film is submitted for competition, and into all other media content produced by the association relating to show’s submission for awards consideration, which is not disparaging of those films, for exhibition by the association and its licensees in all forms of media until 30 days following the Hermes Awards presentation. The owners shall have obtained all the aforementioned rights from the talent appearing in the submission, as well as all other represented personnel. Owners of nominated content are obliged, if requested, to provide to the association a high-definition excerpt of the content in a digital MP4 format and of all approved promotional materials relating to the film, in the highest quality formats available, no later than 10 days following the association's request for such materials.

    Furthermore, in submitting content for EGA’s Hermes Award in localization excellence the The Entrant agrees to EGA’s Indemnity Agreement:

    This INDEMNITY AGREEMENT (this "Agreement") is made effective on the date of submission as recorded by the EGA Hermes submission portal by and between the The Entertainment Globalization Association (hereinafter, "EGA"), of 1800 S. Brand Blvd, Suite120, Glendale, California 91204 and any entity submitting an entry to EGA’s Hermes Award in Localization Excellence (hereinafter, “The Entrant"). The Entertainment Globalization Association and The Entrant are sometimes individually referred to as "Party" and collectively referred to as the "Parties."

    WHEREAS, The Entrant desires to indemnify EGA from any claims and/or litigation arising out of The Entrant's actions in connection with the submission of material for consideration of an EGA Hermes Award. The submitter must ensure they have secured sufficient permissions to allow this material to be used for the purposes of award evaluation, promotional usage for the awards program and during the award show.

    NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants and conditions contained herein, EGA and The Entrant hereby agree as follows:

    TERMS

    Indemnification. The Entrant shall fully defend, indemnify, and hold harmless EGA from any and all claims, lawsuits, demands, causes of action, liability, loss, damage and/or injury, of any kind whatsoever (including without limitation all claims for monetary loss, property damage, equitable relief, personal injury and/or wrongful death), whether brought by an individual or other entity, or imposed by a court of law or by administrative action of any federal, state, or local governmental body or agency, arising out of, in any way whatsoever, any acts, omissions, negligence, or willful misconduct on the part of The Entrant, its officers, owners, personnel, employees, agents, contractors, invitees, or volunteers. This indemnification applies to and includes, without limitation, the payment of all penalties, fines, judgments, awards, decrees, attorneys' fees, and related costs or expenses, and any reimbursements to EGA for all legal fees, expenses, and costs incurred by it.

    Authority to Enter Agreement. Each Party warrants that the individuals who have entered this Agreement have the actual legal power, right, and authority to make this Agreement and bind each respective Party.

    Amendment; Modification. EGA reserves the right to modify this agreement at any time.

    Waiver. No waiver of any default shall constitute a waiver of any other default or breach, whether of the same or other covenant or condition. No waiver, benefit, privilege, or service voluntarily given or performed by a Party shall give the other Party any contractual right by custom, estoppel, or otherwise.

    Attorney’ Fees and Costs. If any legal action or other proceeding is brought in connection with this Agreement, the entrant shall be responsible for EGA’s reasonable attorneys' fees and other related costs, in defense of any liabilities resulting from the actions or inactions of the entrant.

    Entire Agreement. This Agreement contains the entire agreement between the Parties related to the matters specified herein, and supersedes any prior oral or written statements or agreements between the Parties related to such matters.

    Enforceability, Severability, and Reformation. If any provision of this Agreement shall be held to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, the remaining provisions shall continue to be valid and enforceable. If a court finds that any provision of this Agreement is invalid or unenforceable, but that by limiting such provision it would become valid and enforceable, then such provision shall be deemed to be written, construed, and enforced as so limited. The intent of the Parties is to provide as broad an indemnification as possible under California law. In the event that any aspect of this Agreement is deemed unenforceable, the court is empowered to modify this Agreement to give the broadest possible interpretation permitted under California law.

    Applicable Law. This Agreement shall be governed exclusively by the laws of California, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

    Exclusive Venue and Jurisdiction. Any lawsuit or legal proceeding arising out of or relating to this Agreement in any way whatsoever shall be exclusively brought and litigated in the federal and state courts of California. Each Party expressly consents and submits to this exclusive jurisdiction and exclusive venue. Each Party expressly waives the right to challenge this jurisdiction and/or venue as improper or inconvenient. Each Party consents to the dismissal of any lawsuit that they bring in any other jurisdiction or venue.
